Meet Russ Kelly!
This morning, I am happy to officially announce that Russ Kelly is my running mate for Point Pleasant Beach Council!
It is a privilege to share the ticket with Russ, and we would all be lucky to have him serve as our councilman. His work in Point Pleasant Beach has impressed me, like many others. He’s already dedicated to improving our town, not just for one season, but for the next generation.
He’s lent his time and extensive knowledge to our Environmental Commission, working with both Point Beach schools as the Sustainable Jersey Administrator and business owners in town to continue a green initiative. His background as a business owner working with Union staffs makes him the right choice to tackle our mounting budget issues.
Russ and his family have a long history in Point Pleasant Beach, dating back to their ownership of the Mary Frances Motel, providing a perspective on what today's council must improve upon. Russ and I share the entrepreneurial spirit and are proudly short of previous political experience. We hope to apply the same skill set from our professional careers to an agenda for progress in Point Pleasant Beach.
Nearly five years since Hurricane Sandy and the repayment of an additional $900,000 in loans looms. New ideas are needed-
Parking revenues have been down two years in a row. Upgrading to a mobile payment system makes money and will not require costly meters or wages.
Modernize our recycling program to make real money and more sense. Utilizing a Municipal Recycling Tonnage Grant to inform residents and businesses.
Revive payable properties to pre-Sandy levels by enforcing codes on blighted lots that are stagnating development. We're far short of our once $2 billion total valuations.
